Disaster Relief
September to November 2020
Hurricane Laura Joint Relief Mission
Affected Area(s): Louisiana
Project Overview
In the Fall of 2020 hurricane season didn’t care about the pandemic. When Hurricane Laura hit Louisiana, Chicago BWB members went down to assist. Staying camped behind a Sonic restaurant or with other members, for 2 months our team assisted families across the state with everything from roof tarping and (small) tree/log removal to general property clean-up, home demolition work, food pantry / free store joint efforts with local churches, and ultimately supply distribution as during the mission both Hurricanes Delta & Zeta hit while our team was down there. Our team was able to get supplies from Houston down to the southern most part of the state in order to help affected families from those communities as well.
