The BWB Free Store

Since 2020 we have been helping in our local community to help fight housing and food scarcity. One of our recipients and volunteers recently agreed to allow us to document the City's second attempt at connecting some of the individuals we assist with obtaining permanent housing. These interviews show what life is life living on the streets of Chicago in the winter.

In 2023 so far we have collected and distributed 5 bags of items including (but not limited to) winter weather rated sleeping bags, men's & women's coats, men's & women's sweater pants, & thick blankets as a part of this project.

Through our hardworking volunteers and private donations we accomplished:

*178 clothing items donated & distributed 

*24 wooden pallets & 5 tents donated & distributed

*10 battery packs were purchased for distribution

*Moving expenses covered for 2 individuals to alternate temporary shelter locations

*$210 raised from donations for the Free Store Project
