Join us at BWB Chicago’s New Civic Ignition Grant Program!
The Chicago Chapter of Burners Without Borders is a local branch of a national organization - Burners Without Borders, International. We are a grassroots organization committed to bettering the lives of those in our own communities as well as those around the globe. We accomplish this through a variety of local, national, and international projects where we work together with other chapters and members nationwide to bring about the stated goals for our projects.
(from our national site)
BWB promotes activities around the globe that support a community’s inherent capacity to thrive by encouraging innovative approaches to community resilience, disaster response, and grassroots initiatives that make a positive impact.
BWB Chicago is locally focused, with ongoing initiatives including our community resource/free store, the Clever Cats animal rescue program, and a newly launched arts education program for newcomer students—migrant children recently bussed into Chicago and enrolled in CPS.
In the past, our local projects have included creating community gardens, running grant programs, organizing food drives, and fundraising for local and national relief efforts. On a larger scale, we’ve proudly participated in national and international projects focused on disaster relief for hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes, and tsunamis, as well as numerous international community development programs.
BWB Chicago is committed to fostering empowerment, creativity, and resilience through projects that meet immediate needs while building long-term community connections.
